It is the departure point of paths reaching the nearby towns Melo, Rivoreta, Pian degli Ontani, Pian di Novello and the surrounding mountains and lakes. Palazzetto Baldaccini
In this house located at the historical centre of Cutigliano, just behind Piazza Catilina (the town’s main piazza, lived Giovanni Baldaccini, (after whom the street is named) a member of the Carbonari movement and a follower of Mazzini who until 1830 had been given the job by Mazzini to safely bring back the Italian patriots who from Emilia, through the Apennine mountain passes, sought refuge in Tuscany.
It is an antique building, dating back to 1800, three floors, very luminous and with a view of the mountains from the upper floors. The house was restored in 1965. On the first floor, besides a large entrance, there is a studio, a laundry room, a service area and a stone wine cellar, semi-basement with windows (adapted to the conservation of the wines).
By means of a stone stairway, you access the day area with a living room, a small room with a bed, a dining room and a kitchen with a large hooded fireplace, with a terrace in an internal courtyard, a small bathroom with a toilet. On the next floor there are three bedrooms, a bathroom and a room with a small sink, a large passageway and a wardrobe. With a wooden staircase you can reach the floor above the ceiling, live-able in the mansard roof part. This floor, in 1800 was lived in, and is still furnished with an old bathroom and old cook-top stove, and is made up of two rooms at a normal height and two with a mansard roof.
