In those years the valleys were full of much more wildlife than there is today; in particular, there was a large population of foxes. From their presence comes the name "Le Volpaie" ('fox' in Italian is 'volpe').
Le Volpaie is an active farm holding.Its owners reside on the premises and actively work the surronding countryside.This guarantees the authenticity of the products cultivated,such as the wine and olive oil.

Getting to San Benedetto is very easy: arriving from Free-way Firenze-Siena exit at Poggibonsi Nord,follow for San Gimignano and Ulignano. Arriving from Pisa,keep driving for Castelfiorentino Certaldo and then Ulignano.
