About 1.000 inhabitants animate the life of this small village in the province of Pisa. Casale Marittimo stands on a low hill overlooking the river Cecina. The town is surrounded by the natural landscape of Maremma countryside just 12 km from the coast and around the inhabited center extend vast fields of cereals, olive groves and vines. Casale is placed along the path of the Wine Road of the Etruscan Coast. As evidenced by the numerous finds came to light in recent archaeological excavations, the territory of the town was probably inhabited in etruscan times but it is only in the Middle Ages that is stated as a fief of the accounts of Gherardesca. Soon the control of the village pass to the city of Pisa, but in the fifteenth century was conquered by the florentines. The feud was then entrusted first to Ridolfi and then to Ginori behest of Francesco de' Medici. The ancient castle in the center of the hill was totally engulfed in the buildings that make up the village, but can still be seen remain of the walls and other old stone buildings. Well preserved are the Palazzo Rocca and the Church of Sant'Andrea built on the remains of the medieval church. Of particular interest is the Chapel dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie built on request of the population in the '700 and still used today for some religious ceremonies and weddings. Casale Marittimo is the ideal destination for holidays by the sea and in contact with nature, for the quality of tourist services and of the natural environment surrounding the town has also earned the Orange Flag of the Touring Club.|"Casale Marittimo"Farm Holidays a Casale Marittimo
