Situated in the north-east of Tuscany in the plain between the Tableland of Pizzorne and Mount Serra, Lucca is the capital of the province. It is a city of roman origin, the traces of the architecture of the empire can still be found today in the elliptical amphitheater and in the orthogonality of the roads. Lucca is the only city in Tuscany that has maintained its independence until 1847 that testifies the jealous care given to the artistic heritages of the town by the patricians who administered the city over time.
