Radda is located in the heart of the tuscan hills between Val di Pesa and Val d'Arbia. Inhabited since 2000 BC, the first written records date back to 1002 when on the hills around Radda are built several castles. Fief entrusted to the Guidi family, at administrative level was the capital of the Chianti League that included the towns of Gaiole and Castellina. From the seventeenth century, once finished all the conflicts in the area, the castles were transformed into villas and residences dedicated to the production of wine. In fact, the hills covered with olive trees and especially grapevines, Radda is fully included in the Chianti Classico area. The historic center is still partly enclosed by a circle of walls built in the fourteenth century, the heart of the city is the main square where stands the Palazzo del Podestà presenting on the facade numerous coats of arms and the Rectory of San Niccolò dated thirteenth century. The side streets run around the square and having never experienced a real urban extension, streets and homes are frozen in the ancient medieval structures. Outside the walls, close to the current municipal gardens, lies the Grand Duke's Icebox used in the past to store as much snow as possible so that it turn into ice. Today it is instead a shop. Radda is a must-see for lovers of good food and good wine, for athletes of hiking in the hills and for art lovers. Here you will find the best products of traditional tuscan cuisine, beautiful natural landscapes, valuable architectural and the Museum of Sacred Art of Chianti.|"Radda in Chianti"Holidays House a Radda In Chianti
